Packaging Natural Products with rPET Plastic

Using rPET for a Natural Approach to Product Packaging

Natural beauty products with rPET plastic packaging.

From skincare products to health supplements to organic foods, natural products are marketed to a discerning and well-informed consumer base. Because of this, the packaging for natural and organic products is often held to a different standard.

Basically, if you want your natural product packaging to succeed, you need to hit these four marks:

  • Minimalist Design. When it comes to package design in the natural product market, less is more. A calming color palette with natural tones is the go-to aesthetic, but you still need to make an effort to stand out from the competition. A tasteful splash of color could be enough to draw consumers' eyes to your product on the shelf.

  • Clear Representation. You want to showcase your product in a way that really shows it off, but you should avoid using embellished photographs that make your product seem larger, more attractive, or more colorful than it actually is. That trick may work once with a consumer, but if the incongruity between packaging and product is too much, all you're going to succeed in doing is sowing distrust. One tried-and-true approach is to use clear packaging so that your product is on full display. People really like the idea of being able to see what it is they're buying.

  • Convenience. You're marketing to a group of people who want to buy your organic and natural products. Make it convenient for them to do so. Resealable and reusable packaging makes it easier for customers to use your product, plus it demonstrates to them that you value their time and want to accommodate their busy lifestyle.

  • Eco-Conscious Packaging. There's a lot of overlap in the Venn diagram of natural product consumers and environmental enthusiasts. And it's only logical... if your product is natural, then your branding and your packaging should reflect this by being eco-friendly.

Natural Product Packaging with Recycled rPET Plastic

Admittedly, packaging natural and organic products in plastic doesn't seem like an intuitive strategy. But recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) is an eco-friendly option that reduces the carbon footprint by removing the need to use energy to extract and create new raw plastic material. The process of sorting, washing, and flaking post-consumer PET to make new rPET requires 75% less energy than the creation of raw plastic.

rPET offers the clarity, durability, and long shelf life of glass along with the light weight and versatility of paper or cardboard. It can be used to showcase your product or custom-colored to reflect your branding. And there are plenty of lid and closure options available to ensure your packaging is as convenient as it is attractive.

And with its impact on shipping and transportation costs, rPET plastic isn't just good for the environment... it's great for your bottom line!
